Me and the vista
from Mt. Evans.
Welcome to Grafische Werken, the online gallery of photography and graphic design by Wayne Yanda.

This all started (unofficially) almost 20 years ago; it just didn't have a name. Early beginnings can be traced back to when I found myself doing a lot of design work for the local community theatre, as well as crafting business cards, postcards, and other ephemera when I was employed at a business services store. The photography end started when I noticed no one was taking photos of the same theatre company's productions for historical and marketing purposes.

I later found myself taking photos for fun, then for a local arts association, which made sense, since I was also doing their newsletter. (It's so much easier to write when you have a picture of what you're writing about in front of you. Funny how that works.)

Lately, the bulk of my photography is nature oriented as she’s a fascinating and constantly changing canvas. (The cynical side of me believes there are those who won’t rest until the world is one giant strip mine, so let’s preserve what we can in any way possible.) I also like capturing architecture for similar reasons. It’s amazing how quickly society is willing to pave over history in favor of a parking lot, or something even more soulless.

Well, I’ve rambled long enough. Subscribe to the (almost) weekly posts for design-tips, completed works, and the occasional special project. Take a look around, and if there’s something you like, or there’s a project you’re not quite sure how to approach, drop me a line at grafische.werken@gmail.com.

Thanks for visiting!

(Oh, in case you're wondering, it's Dutch for "graphic works.")
