Peonies

I didn't really care for peonies when I was growing up on the farm. They seemed to be always in the way whenever I mowed the lawn. Seriously, the blooms get to be so huge, the stems need to be staked in order to hold them up.

But with most things, as the years pass, one looks at them anew ...
This one has the characteristics of a water lily.
And this one, a wild rose on steroids.
The shadows created by and the details of the petals create such interesting textures.

What's even more interesting is some of these beds were created by cuttings from a plant over 50 years old.

Coming up next week ... Resorts at Sea: July update, when I explore page layouts and elements.
