Long Day's Journey Into Night

I first watched this movie for its cast: Katharine Hepburn, Jason Robards, Dean Stockwell, and for its director: Sidney Lumet. I had no idea what I would be watching. The emotional gut punches you will receive when viewing are worth it. Kate Hepburn as a dope addict? The hell you say!

The movie is based on the play by Eugene O’Neill. I wanted the graphic and text to be stark. I knew the text would be white and the background black, but then I started doodling, and pretty soon I’m looking at a window. Keeping it off center makes you feel you’re skulking, you’re looking into a place you know you shouldn’t, in this case something dark and foreboding and you want to be in a position where you can duck back out of sight.

Now let’s take it a step further. Let’s get shot of a real window. None of my clip art is proving adequate. Hmm … There’s an abandoned house nearby, a prime source for vintage windows. I’ll get back to you.

(And yes, I'm still cleaning up some of the tabs. Getting there!)
