Doing the Time Warp

Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show was a very special time for me. Not only was it the first musical I directed, but I had the privilege of working with an amazing cast. And while maybe not all the stops were pulled out, we came pretty damn close.

Two or three weeks into rehearsals, we had a photo shoot. I asked Heather Darrah to work her hair and make-up magic on everyone for these were to be headshots. We also did some staged shots to pay homage to the movie poster.

One of my favorite characters in this show is The Narrator (or Criminologist in the movie). In the poster, he's holding his crime file and in the background is Frank's castle. Here's a composite shot with four images: sky, building, dome, and Randy as The Narrator.

Finally, we went all out for posters (well, for Curtain Call anyway). Professionally printed (on red paper) and loaded with photos. It made for a nice keepsake as the cast autographed one, framed it and presented it to me after the final performance.
