In golf, they call it a "mulligan."

I don't normally revisit a completed project. Oh sure, I'll take notes, and incorporate them into future projects, but I don't think I've ever remade anything. As I was gathering images to post, I looked at a Lincoln exhibit poster and thought, "My God, what a piece of crap."

The original intent was to make it look like something that was printed in the 1860s. I researched typefaces and layout styles from that era and ended up with what I thought was a fair approximation. But again, I look at it today ... Yikes.

So during my travels from MO to CO by way of IA, I came up with something new.

I started with the original photo I took of a statue of Lincoln (part of Dr. Trimborn's massive collection). I cleaned it up a bit with Photoshop, turned it into a line drawing to give it an etched look, and then the image became the page.

For some reason, the text and graphic combo remind me of images from the 1960s when everyone was commemorating the centennial of the Civil War and Lincoln's assassination. Definitely one of those "if I knew then what I know now" moments.
