Aaron Fine's works are very vertical -- some reaching 14 feet in height. It was one of those ginormous works that I used for the poster. (You really get a sense of the height when you have to take one of them down, as I did when I helped him one Saturday morning.)
Mid February 2009 saw a mural contest involving area high schools. The Kirksville Arts Center has these funky green window coverings on the second and third floors, and it was agreed something had to be done with them. A generous benefactor arranged the competition and covered a major portion of the costs involved in getting them up (see image below).
In the last one, Woods & Fibers, I enjoyed the textures and patterns of the pieces. I'm really glad I used a close-up shot for the main image. The natural wood grain mimics some of the fabric behind it. I helped hang this exhibit and a good deal of creative engineering (binder clips and fishing line) was involved in arranging the quilts. The poster was the easy part.
